POSITION: Corunna Public Schools is looking for a full-time, second-shift EDUStaff custodian at Corunna Middle School (2:30 p.m.-11:00 p.m. with 30 minute lunch). We are looking to hire only the best. JOB DESCRIPTION The employee shall have such knowledge, skills and abilities as may be required to successfully carry out the responsibilities of the job. JOB / DISTRICT / COMMUNITY HIGHLIGHTS Corunna Public Schools is looking for the best possible full-time, second-shift EDUStaff custodian available. True to our mission statement of preparing an unprecedented number of students to be college and/or career ready, our district offers a continuum of services to meet the needs of all students. Our district is known for offering quality education in a small-town environment with the amenities of a larger community (our district buildings are five minutes away from Applebee’s, Culver’s, Meijer, Walmart, etc.). Student loan tuition reimbursement is available to district teachers and our county’s cost of living is incredibly low. We are a class “B” school (around 130 students per grade level) with a reputation for higher standards; as a result, nearly 40% of our students are school of choice. We have the only inclusive preschool in the county. Our school is the community “hub” and Homecoming is still a big deal in our small town, which is the county seat. Our community is incredibly supportive of our district as well. We have high-achieving athletic teams and award-winning extra-curricular programs. Despite having nearly 40% of students coming to us via school of choice, our constituents passed a nearly $17 million bond a few years ago to upgrade our buildings and two more in 2021, ($7 million). We also were recently fortunate to have earned a $123,000 Michigan State Police competitive grant to upgrade security features in our buildings. First district in the state to have an on-site health clinic for all employees and families. QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The custodian is directly responsible to the building principal and building and grounds supervisor, and has the overall responsibility for the cleanliness, safety and security within the assigned building. 1. Sweep all rooms and hallways daily. 2. Clean marker boards in assigned rooms when needed. 3. Empty wastebaskets in all assigned rooms. 4. All carpeted rooms are to be vacuumed daily. 5. Dust window ledges, door louvers and furniture in assigned classrooms and hallways. 6. Mop and wax floors according to the schedule established. 7. Clean drinking fountains each day. 8. Clean assigned restrooms. This will include cleaning all porcelain fixtures and sanitizing the restroom floor. 9. Students Honored Today at CHS! Math students in each grade were recognized- Outstanding math students, most improved math students, and outstanding computer science students for the school year. Students were recognized individually during the short ceremony in the media center during 4th hour. Muffins with Mom at Elsa Meyer Elementary It was a real sweet event!

On Friday, May 12th, Mrs. Whalen’s 4th grade class, along with Mrs. Kribs and Ms. Balcom, took a walking trip to the Sheriff’s Dept. The students wrote thank you notes and made colored banners for the men and women of the Sheriff Department. Students were greeted by Sheriff BeGole, Under Sheriff Corey Carson, Lt. Rob Herrick, and Deputy Doug Chapman. They talked to the students about important safety tips, as well as what each of their jobs entailed. Students were able to ask questions and have a group photo taken. At the end, The deputies handed out bracelets, tattoos, and a small candy bar. Students were very excited! Mrs. Whalen plans on having this activity be an annual event for her students.
