Fellow Cavaliers, We were made aware of an incident last Friday (10.13.23) where one of our students was approached by a white male, approximately in his 60s, while the student was riding his bike around Owosso. The incident was reported to the Owosso Police Department, who shared that there was a similar incident the previous week. The suspect is a white male with gray and balding hair. He has a white beard, and his mustache is unkempt and discolored (yellowing). He is reportedly driving a white pickup truck with a topper (unknown make/model/plate) with damage to the front bumper. If you have any information, safely gather the plate number and report it to the Owosso Police Department (989) 725-0580. Respectfully, Mr. Fattal Superintendent

In Honors English II, the Unit 1 Narrative Writing Essential Question is: What's the most important issue that teenagers face today? More than half of this class is writing a narrative based on students' mental health. It was well-suited and intentional that Mrs. Hilewsky's classes participated in World Mental Health Day on 10/10/23. World Mental Health Day is an international day for global mental health education, awareness, and advocacy against social stigma. It was first celebrated in 1992 at the initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health, a global mental health organization with members and contacts in more than 150 countries. After the students participated in the day's lesson, they had the remainder of their class time to read, draw, color, or to write a postcard or letter to someone that's making a positive influence in their lives today.

Today students from CHS had the opportunity to visit Bekum American Corporation for Manufacturing Day. Bekum is one of America's largest builders of automated injection molding machinery. What a great experience for the students who signed up for the special presentation.

On Wednesday, Elsa Meyer held its Bike to School Event. 75+ students and over 30 parent volunteers made this a morning to remember for our kids. Britt and Noah Wiggins, Larry LaFramboise, and Carla Feamster were all instrumental in the event going off without a hitch. The city of Corunna provided Fire and Police support to block roads for the safety of our students. Jessica Hilewsky’s yearbook staff and students from the Drone class were able to capture video and pictures of the event.
