How will students and community members benefit? Both proposals would allow us to do the following:
-House all of our K-3 students at Elsa Meyer with the addition of 6 new classrooms
-Install air conditioning at Elsa Meyer and Louise Peacock
-Replace the bleachers and install athletic turf at the Nick Annese Stadium.
-Renovate the boys and girls high school locker rooms
-Replace the middle school student lockers

Bond Language Corunna Public Schools Please remember to vote May 4! PROPOSAL 1: Shall Corunna Public Schools, Shiawassee Country, Michigan, borrow the sum of not to exceed Four Million Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($4,300,000) and issue its general obligation unlimited tax bonds therefor, for the purpose of: erecting, furnishing, and equipping a classroom addition at Elsa Meyer Elementary; remodeling, furnishing and refurnishing, and equipping and re-equipping school buildings; replacing bleachers at the Nick Annese Athletic Complex; and preparing, developing, and improving sites? The estimated millage that will be levied for the proposed bonds in 2021 is 0.5 mill ($0.50 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation) for a -0- mill net increase over the prior year’s levy. (This means there would be no change to your current tax levy!) The maximum number of years the bonds may be outstanding, exclusive of any refunding, is sixteen (16) years. The estimated simple average annual millage anticipated to be required to retire this bond debt is 0.96 mill ($0.96 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation) PROPOSAL 2: Shall Corunna Public Schools, Shiawassee Country, Michigan, borrow the sum of not to exceed Two Million Eight Hundred Thousand Dollars (2,800,000) and issue its general obligation unlimited tax bonds therefor, for the purpose of: remodeling, furnishing and refurnishing, and equipping and re-equipping school buildings; installing a synthetic playing surface and replacing sidewalks at the Nick Annese Athletic Complex; installing playground and recreational equipment at Louise Peacock Children’s Services; and preparing, developing, and improving sites? The estimated millage that will be levied for the proposed bonds in 2021 is 0.8 mill ($0.80 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation) for a 0.3 mill net increase over the prior year’s levy. (This means that on the taxable value for a $120,000 home, the homeowner would only pay $1.50 a month.) The maximum number of years the bonds may be outstanding, exclusive of any refunding, is eighteen (18) years. The estimated simple average annual millage anticipated to be required to retire this bond debt is 0.55 mill ($0.55 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation).

Drop Off Absentee Ballots
Election clerk offices will be open for at least 8 hours on Saturday, May 1, 2021, or Sunday, May 2, 2021, to issue and receive absent voter ballots. (Exact dates and times for each location will be posted in the Argus Press by April 5.)
